Empire Octagonal Bed Another bed inspired by the works of Prudent Mallard, the Empire Octagonal Bed can be crafted with a full tester or a turn down foot post. The standard king bed post is 8' tall. We have customized this bed many ways to suit specific customer needs. A very popular version is to “turn-down” the foot post. The turned-down post have a finished height of about 40". The headboard post may also be turned-down to 7' tall, making it easily fit into a bedroom with 8' ceilings.
